1/4 " thick white polyester fabric

The Charcoal Prefilter starts with an uncoated 1/4 " thick white polyester fabric.

Then the polyester dust filtration media is impregnated with activated carbon to achieve a dual filtration effect.

 
The polyester filters large lint particles, while the activated carbon filters the gas and odors.

Coconut Shell Activated Carbon

The Charcoal Prefilter uses a Coconut Shell Activated Carbon.

This carbon is ground to an extremely fine particle size to increase the surface area available for gas and odor adsorption.

The activated carbon is thermally bonded to the polyester, resulting in very little carbon brush-off.

Your Honeywell HEPA Filter 24000 has 73 Square Feet of Surface Area.

Most Honeywell HEPA Air Cleaners will Clean the Air for 3 to 5 Years Before the Main HEPA Filter Gets Clogged.

It Can Take Years To Clog This HEPA Filter in Honeywell's Model 13520 Air Cleaner (non-smoking home).

The Main HEPA Filter Lasts about 3 to 5 years in a non-smoking home.   The HEPA Filter 24000 is pleated and has about 73 Sq Ft   (10" Inches x 88' Feet Long) of Filtering Surface Area.

First Turn the Air Cleaner to Highest Speed!!!

Normally you will feel a steady stream of air coming out of the air cleaner!  When the prefilter or hepa air filter is clogged you will be able to hear an audible pulsating sound and you can feel rapid "puffs" of air coming out of the outlet slot on the air cleaner!

Make sure the prefilter is not clogged.

First: Turn the Unit to the Highest Speed.

Second: You should hear a chuffling sound and feel pulsating air flow coming out of the unit at a distance 2 to 3 feet from the unit!

You can block the air flow into this air cleaner and make this chuffling (PUFFING) sound by wraping a plastic bag around the inlet screen on the air cleaner using the highest speed.
